Depressing Thought Of The Day

The Penn State child abuse scandal is no more limited to one university than the Church abuse was limited to one parish.
I've been reading in comment sections people writing "Why, I would have given him a punch in the mouth!" but no one ever does. Someone has to suspect or know something; after all, it involves a lot of kids and goes on for years. Still, nothing.

Gotta wonder what's wrong with people.

It's Always Right In Front Of You

I always knew that Steve Martin could play the banjo, I just never knew that he could play the banjo. Guess I was distracted by the silly arrow-through-the-head prop.

From The Department Of Irony

I have lived in Texas for God knows how long, and have never seen a tornado. A funnel cloud here and there, but never the "Run Paw, it's a ternader!" full blast on the ground flipping trailer houses type. Also lived in Nevada for two years and never felt an earthquake. Ergo, I had to be in Texas to feel my first earthquake, the 5.6 one centered in Oklahoma. A very brief vibration, then a sudden thud, like someone had just run into the house.

Had to be in Texas for my first blizzard too, BTW.

Music For Halloween III

There were serial killer stories way back when, and the plot hasn't changed.

Music For Halloween II

If you pay attention, there are definitely some zombie attacks recorded.

I really don't like the pseudo-scientific story of the undead being caused by a virus, but in the context of the Black Death, it seems appropriate.

Music For Halloween

A movie about a young woman impregnated by a really really old guy. Yeah. Now it's creepy.

Did You Know That Yar Is Ray Backwards?

Yesterday, I found the one person in all the world who played the Atari 2600 "E.T. the Extra Terrestrial" game and liked it. (We have a shelf full of those retro twenty games in one controllers.)

Just playing the game all the way to the end doesn't necessarily mean you want to be hit with a torrent of "E.T. the Extra Terrestrial" game trivia, plus a brief history of game consoles.

I couldn't help myself. It had been building up for thirty years.
